Laser and RF Protection
Transparent materials are being developed that are capable of protecting the vision of pilots and soldiers from laser and RF threats. We have designed and constructed multilayer stacks that provide a high transparency window in the visible spectrum but block both UV and IR light. These coatings have sufficient optical density to protect the eye from damage by laser radiation in these two spectral regions. We have built and tested these stacks on both rigid and flexible substrates in order to provide Laser Eye Protection (LEP) technology for a wide variety of protection applications, including goggles, visors and windshields.


Photonic Modeling
Models have been developed to understand dispersion and light propagation in nanophotonic structures.. We are modeling super resolution structures for Laser Eye Protection, Solar Cells and Tunable Metamaterials.
