We are developing a multi-dimensional inverse heat conduction (IHC) platform used in High Energy Laser (HEL) test and evaluation (T&E). This is an integrated system that couples a low-cost, high-resolution array of temperature sensors with software modeling and visualization tools that allow researchers to analyze the interaction of the HEL beam with the target material. The first implementation provides information about the absorbed heat flux at the front surface of the target. We are working to extend this model to calculate the incident irradiance profile at the front surface of the target.


Photonics
Models have been developed to understand dispersion and light propagation in nanophotonic structures.. We are modeling super resolution structures for Laser Eye Protection, Solar Cells and Tunable Metamaterials.
