Terahertz

THz Imager and Beam Profiler
The Terahertz Imaging Profiler Array (TIPA) is a multispectral beam profiler and imaging system capable of ultra-fast detection of THz frequencies from 0.2 to 0.9 THz. The TIPA system can acquire a THz beam profile in just a few seconds, compared to many minutes required for legacy systems. The TIPA system employs multiple arrays of Schottky-diodes with excellent noise characteristics, and a scanning reflective optical system to provide high quality beam information. The system can also be reconfigured for use as a fast imager for applications like imaging through obscurants, paints or polymers, and atmospheric characterization.

THz Focal Plane Array
NanoGenesis has partnered with the University at Buffalo to develop a THz imager that utilizes classical rectification effects in semiconductor point contacts (SPCs) to achieve response in the 1 to 10 THz range. The THz detector elements will be capable of operating at temperatures over 150 K, and can be fabricated in a video-rate focal plane array (FPA). The applications for a THz focal plane array are numerous. Since certain THz frequencies can penetrate some materials, potential uses include rapid inspection for fatigue and cracks in painted metal components, THz communications and imaging through obscurants.

High Power Microwave Instrumentation
We are working with a R&D partner to test and characterize microsensors that can quantify parameters for High Power Microwave (HPM) sources and targets.
